Turning the Ikea Helmer into a (lightweight) Flightcase
Ingredients:
- 1× Ikea Helmer Cabinet (black)
- 2× Foldable Handle (Adam Hall 34082b)
- 4× Black Wheels (Roadworx Black Wheel Bundle 80mm)
- 1× suitable wooden base (e.g. 12mm birch multiplex)
- 5× Quarter-Turn rotary latches (e.g. HALDER 24100.0102)
- Rubber mats for top and drawers
Granted: The added hardware costs more than the ikea cabinet itself, but if you want a compact, relatively lightweight transportable cabinet, that keeps the drawers closed and can be carried down a set of stairs with two people, this is a pretty affordable and cool solution.
